Frequently Asked Questions

What is the first therapy session like?

The first therapy session gives clients the opportunity to discuss the reasons they are seeking therapy. The therapist will inquire about their history, discuss potential treatment modalities, and begin to set goals with the client for their work together.

How long will I need therapy?

The duration of therapy can be discussed with your therapist. Since every client has different needs and goals for therapy, there is no set duration of treatment.

What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer many different types of therapeutic interventions to our clients. All of our therapists are trained in a variety of modalities, as there is no β€œone size fits all” way to treat a client. Some of the more popular modalities that we work from are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Where do we have sessions?

Lakeside offers sessions both virtually and at our in-person location in Madison, WI at 5325 Wall Street, Suite 2555.

What are the therapy rates and how long do sessions last?

Therapy rates are anywhere from $115-$200/session. Sessions are approximately 55 minutes.

Do you offer EMDR?

Yes, we currently offer EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) services as well as a new service offered by Ashley Riley, EMDR intensives. You can find more information here.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept the following insurances: Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield (all major plans), Quartz, Aetna, United Healthcare, UMR, Humana, Security Health Plan, Dean Healthcare, and Auxiant.

Do you accept out-of-network insurance?

Yes, we can provide a Superbill for out-of-network insurance.

How do I pay?

All payments are made through our secure client portal.

How do we get started?

For the fastest response, please email us at: therapy@lakesidecounsel.com. If you are planning to use insurance or have a specific therapist in mind that you would like to work with, please be sure to mention that in the email. Once we receive your inquiry, we will respond with a list of therapists who might be a good fit for your needs (and who are in-network with your insurance). We will also ask you to send us an image of the front and back of your insurance card, along with your date of birth, so that we can verify your insurance benefits to see how therapy sessions are covered. Once benefits are verified, we will let you know what coverage looks like and send you a link to our client portal so that you can set up an account and complete the intake forms.
